Artists with disabilities are front and centre, sharing their talent, perspectives and individuality with ART:DIS at the Enabling Lives Festival organised by SGEnable. At ground zero where conversations and actions to advance disability inclusion are championed, join us at the Enabling Village on 30 Nov 2024 (10am–6pm) for a variety of activities to enable, empower and engage together with many other programme partners! This power-pack celebration of the diversity of human expression is not to be missed:

  • Live music performances at Big Tree and Green Container. From classical piano and violin, to evergreen pop songs and original compositions, be dazzled by 12 musicians and vocalists with disabilities.
  • Gelli-plate printing and Cyanotype printing at UOB Ability Hub. Get creative with stencils and organic materials in this fun activity that is perfect for children. Our young artists will guide participants in making unique designs using traditional printing methods.
  • Between Earth & Sky at Cabana (Nest). This immersive art experience invites viewers to delve into the complexities of caregiving, symbolized by the delicate nature of suspended kites and notes from caregivers of persons with disabilities. Visitors are encouraged to share their experiences through an interactive station, where they can create miniature kites, adding to the ongoing narrative and fostering a sense of engagement.
  • Knots and Braids at Cabana (Village Green). This immersive installation pod aims to raise awareness, visibility and recognition for caregivers. Created through collaborative exercises between fiber artist Adeline and caregivers, the colorful and vibrant space filled with knotted yarns prompts spontaneous discussions about the challenges and rewards of caregiving, ultimately inspiring visitors to consider actionable ways to support caregiver communities.
  • Stories Come Alive at Caregiver Pod. Two heartwarming stories about courage, resilience and friendship are brought to life by passionate storytellers – Roger Jenkins and Zip Zap Zoom Collective, in collaboration with our performing artists. In a cozy intimate hideaway where the imagination is fuel for an epic odyssey into different worlds, children and adults alike will discover what it means to have empathy for others. SgSL interpretation provided.
  • The Human Condition at Nest Grandstand. Witness the power of verbatim theatre through a series of heartfelt pieces exploring themes such as love, family, community, stigma, identity, empathy and hope. Through the words of real-life characters from all walks of life including a wheelchair rugby player, a visually impaired singer, a brain trauma survivor, a TV actor with down syndrome, a Deaf advocate, and an entrepreneur with ADHD, this performance reveals moving lived experiences to make us reflect what it means to be human.
