I AND THE FLOWERS
I AND THE FLOWERS
- $850.00
by artist Amelia Tan
'I' now realises themself as flowers bloom all over their body with their experience in the journey 'I' has come to accept who they are, just like the rose
This is suite of four mixed-media works presented here is representative of Amelia’s Tan continuous interest in portraying children. Her intention here was to reflect the main character's mental and emotional state. The works draw from her own personal struggles as an artist seeking to express herself in a world that favours mainstream art. Her priority was to be able to visually represent the main character's frame of mind. Referencing televised documentaries such as "The New Hire" and Vincent Van Gogh's biography, she aimed to illustrate the personal journeys of individuals with disabilities, and offer avenues for commiseration and encouragement.
