ART:DIS was commissioned by the National Heritage Board to present two fully accessible programmes for audiences during Singapore HeritageFest 2021, which is an annual immersive celebration of the nation’s shared culture. Under the theme Relive the stories that connect us (through food and health practices), our performing artist Claire Teo and ally Dr Dawn-joy Leong presented A Touch of Warmth and A Touch of Clemency respectively.
With the inclusion of creative narration for visually-impaired and autistic audiences, Claire and Dr Leong welcomed viewers into their homes, sharing their knowledge of how to make a heartwarming Cantonese dish and how to use everyday objects to restore one’s mental well-being. Intimate and soothing, these videos reminded viewers of Singapore’s heritage and offered them a glimpse into the practice of our artists.
